I03-20 Educational Wheel: Variety of Emotions

The I03-20 Educational Wheel: Variety of Emotions is an outdoor tool for learning to recognise and name feelings. The pointer stops at one emotion, and each emotion comes with three tasks: the child picks one and shows the feeling with a face, a movement or a sound, and the group guesses. It works well in therapy practices, schools and nurseries.

Product description

Chance picks the emotion, the child shows it

It all starts at the edge of the disc: the child grabs it with both hands and sets it spinning, and a moment later chance points to one field - a task, a question or a symbol. Where did the idea of letting chance decide come from? The wheel of fortune was already turning in the Roman temples of the goddess Fortuna, and around 524 Boethius described the ‘Rota Fortunae’, the wheel of changing fate, which lasted through the whole of the Middle Ages. In play, the same mechanism works in the child's favour: when they choose for themselves, they reach for what they already know; when chance chooses, they try things they would never have reached for on their own.

For the wheel to keep turning for years, it has to withstand every kind of weather: rain, frost and sun. The frame is steel, galvanised and powder-coated, and the mechanical parts are made of stainless steel, so moisture leaves no mark on them. The wheel stays outdoors all year round - there is no need to put it in storage for the winter - and it is covered by a warranty. The manufacturer is EduPlayground, and the wheel is made in Poland.

Always ready, no setting up

The game stands outdoors ready to use: there is no need to take it out of a cupboard, set it up or pack it away after the lesson. A child walks up and spins - at break, after lessons, while waiting for a parent - and a lesson can start at any moment.

One piece of equipment, many topics

One frame serves topic after topic: health, ecology, emotions, space, the senses, optical patterns. A setting that already has a wheel buys just the disc instead of a second piece of equipment - and after a year it has a set for several different activities.

One spins, everyone practises

A group gathers at the wheel: one child spins, the others wait for the result and do the task together with them. A shared exercise or a shared answer evens out differences between children, and waiting for your turn gets practised along the way.

What makes up the wheel

Five elements: two decide what comes up, and the other three take care of turning, changing the disc and height.

Rotating printed disc

The disc turns on its own axis when you grab its edge - the only movement the equipment needs. The graphic is printed on self-adhesive film and protected with UV-resistant laminate, so the sections stay legible after rain and after a season in the sun.

Field pointer

The pointer decides which field has come up - when the disc stops, it shows exactly one. The result is visible to everyone at once, so the game runs without a referee and without arguments about what was pointed to.

Magnetic disc mounting

The panel is held on by magnets, so changing the topic means taking off one disc and putting on another. The equipment stays in place, the post and anchors unchanged, and the whole swap takes a moment - it can be done between one lesson and the next.

Rotation mechanism

The wheel turns on bearings, so it spins smoothly and stops in a different place after every push. It needs no electricity or batteries, works the same in frost and in heat, and the only power is a child's hand.

Height set during installation

The disc sits on a steel post, and its height is set during installation: lower where nursery children use the wheel, higher where older pupils spin it. The height is chosen once, for the group that will use the wheel most often.

Personalisation

Wheel in a colour of your choice with a custom sticker

Personalisation covers how the wheel looks, not how it works. The frame and disc can look different, while the turning mechanism stays the same.

  • Sticker with custom graphics

Instead of a ready-made graphic, the disc carries a sticker made to order. Its content and layout are agreed with the customer, so the disc can show things not found among the ready-made designs.

  • Colour

The colour of the frame can be adapted to order - a frequent request. The scope of the change is agreed with an adviser. Standard colour according to the product data sheet: green (RAL 6018).
