The S10 Educational Board Da Vinci is a double-sided playground board: one surface transparent, the other magnetic. Through the panel you trace the outline of a person standing opposite; on the magnetic side you arrange letters and write with a marker. It works well in nurseries, schools, education centres and public spaces.
Art and science on one board, as in Leonardo's notebook
It all starts at the transparent panel. Someone stands on the other side, and the child sees their outline straight through and traces it with a marker or a finger dipped in paint. Where does the idea come from? From the studios of Renaissance painters: in 1525 Albrecht Dürer described perspective machines in which the painter looked through a transparent pane and transferred the view onto it line by line. The board is named after Leonardo da Vinci because he painted pictures and sketched machines in the same notebooks - to draw something, you first have to look at it. The other side is metal: magnets stick to it, and a dry-wipe marker writes on it like chalk on a blackboard.
The whole board stands up to rain, frost and sun: the frame is steel, galvanised and powder-coated, and the transparent surface is not glass but a plexiglass panel. Moisture does not damage either side, so the board works outdoors all year round, winter included, and is covered by a warranty. The manufacturer is EduPlayground, and the board is made in Poland.
Drawing standing up, with the whole arm
The panel stands upright, so the child draws standing up, guiding the colour with a movement from the shoulder, and reaches across to the other side of the body. Aiming a marker at an outline seen through the panel links the eye with the hand - the same coordination that later guides a pencil along a letter.
Supporting speech and speech therapy
Arranging letters, naming what appears on the panel and writing simple words support speech development, and hand skills go hand in hand with it. The board is sometimes used in speech therapy held in the open air.
Start again without a trace
A drawing that did not work disappears in moments: paint comes off the transparent panel with a damp cloth, and marker wipes dry off the magnetic side. The child tries again, and the next group finds a clean surface - with no paper used up.
What's inside the board
Four elements: two working surfaces, height adjustment and a frame that holds them upright.
Transparent panel
The surface is smooth and transparent, so paint does not soak in but lies on it differently than on paper, and the other side can still be seen through the smudges. The same panel takes a marker when an outline or shape needs to be transferred onto it.
Magnetic metal side
Letters, numbers and your own sheets stay put with magnets, so a name, a sum or a task prepared earlier by the teacher takes shape on the board. Swapping two letters gives a new word and a new task.
Height adjustment
The board's height is set with the fixing bolts, so the working surface sits at the eye level of a particular group: lower for the youngest, higher for older classes. The same board serves one year group after another without alterations.
Steel frame on anchors
The frame holds both surfaces upright and leaves free space all around, so children work on both sides at once. Anchors set in the ground and concreted in keep the board in place when someone leans on it while drawing.
